Mid-Century Scandinavian
What is it and why was it important?
The movement, originating in Denmark, Norway and Sweden (Scandinavia) was made popular during the 1950's, due to its underlying goal of making beautiful and functional design accessible and affordable to the masses.
It is easily identifiable by the use of clean simple lines, and light, natural colours. It has had such a dramatic impact on design culture for the last 70 years, that Scandinavian Design is often itself synonymous with Modern Design, the two terms often interchangeable.
